Thanks for coming by and caring enough to click into read MORE about me! My ego thanks you.
This blog is an extension of what only a few years ago I didn’t even know I loved to do: cook. As a young mom blindsided by the realization that I would now be spending much more time at home than I had intended to do at the age of 23, my mom handed me a stack of old Cooks Illustrated magazines. As I flipped through the pages, it lit a little fire in my brain that told me this is interesting! Keep READING!
Ever since then I’ve found myself devouring Food & Wine magazines, deciphering old family recipes and new cookbooks. Spending time in the kitchen, challenging myself to try new and different ingredients and techniques. Experimenting with flavors, forcing myself to handle spicier food, trying that weird ingredient, learning more about what exactly makes “Hoosier” food (and what is a Hoosier anyway?), and how to throw a dinner party without your kitchen being a capital-D Disaster area. I hope this blog can help you do the same.
The title of the blog comes from a Julia Child quote, “Life itself is the Proper Binge.” I believe food and drink and friends and family and table add an element to life that without it would be so dull. And who really likes dull?
So pour the wine, pick up your glass, look your neighbor square in the eye, and clink your glasses. Let’s eat.
