How To Make Roasted Duck Breast with Plum Sauce

Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 30 minutes
Total: 50 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 duck breast halves
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup plum sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Score the skin of the duck breast in a crisscross pattern and season with salt and pepper.

  3. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil.

  4. Place the duck breasts, skin side down, in the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until the skin is crisp and golden brown.

  5. Flip the duck breasts and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.

  6. Roast for 12-15 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  7. Remove the duck from the oven and transfer to a cutting board. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  8. In a small saucepan, combine the plum sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Heat over medium-low heat until warmed through.

  9. Slice the duck breast and serve with the plum sauce drizzled on top. Garnish with fresh herbs, if desired.
